Deadline and the Hollywood Reporter, reports Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios has just started filming Mr. Box Office, starring actor/comedian Bill Bellamy.
The show was created and written by Allen and Scott Satin (First Family) centers on actor Marcus Jackson (Bellamy), one of the biggest movie stars in the world who, after pushing a paparazzi, finds himself having to put his film career on hold, while relegated to a long-term community service stint teaching underprivileged high school kids in South Central.
Co-starring in the project is Rick Fox, who will play a physical education teacher at the school, Vivica A. Fox will play a cougar history teacher, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Tim Meadows and Gary Busey. Allen and Satin are executive producing with Bellamy, Barry Katz and Carolyn Folks.
The cast also includes Tony T. Roberts, Alex Thomas, Jeff Garcia, Marcus Paulk, Giovonnie Samuels, Tequan Richmond, Giselle Bonilla, Davi Santos, Nick Nervies, Erinn Westbrook and Clifton Davis.
Mr. Box Office is aiming at producing a minimum of 104 episodes over two years and eying a primetime launch this fall on the Tribune, Weigel and CBS TV station groups.
